Follow these simple care tips, to avoid mold and guarantee that your nursing pads will maintain their absorption capacity and softness:
- Change them when wet, and ideally wash them the same day, as to avoid mold from milk sitting in for too long
- Wash them in cold water, on a regular cycle with regular clothes. You may use normal detergent or baby laundry detergents. Use the mesh bag provided with the nursing pads, to avoid unnecessary wear. You may also wash them by hand, but make sure the detergent is rinsed well, otherwise it will build up and the pads will lose absorbency
- Use your dryer on a Low Heat mode, or air dry your nursing pads. Either way, make sure they are completely dry. Using dryer will leave them softer than line drying
- Do not use softeners, as they will end up building residue, which will inhibit the bamboo’s capacity to absorb
- Pro Tip: if there is a stubborn smell or stain on your pads, or you think your pads have lost absorbency after multiple uses, then wash them in a mild bleach solution (10% bleach and 90% water) Sun’s UV rays also help to fade stains
- Caution! Do not use baking soda, since it breaks down the fibers of bamboo rayon
